Must-See Before and After: Toilet to Bathroom Renovation!

Just because a space is small does not mean it cannot be magnificent!

What do we want from an ensuite bathroom? On a practical level, a toilet and sink have to be the bare minimum. If you can add a shower big enough to avoid bashing your elbows as you wash, that has to be a bonus! Plus, it needs to be easy to clean. That’s all before even considering elegance, style and class! Clearly an ensuite bathroom renovation requires oodles of thought and creativity! Especially when your starting canvas is uninspiring to say the least. Take a look at the before photos.

Before

Our first impressions of this space were mixed to say the least. A carpeted floor in any room with water is super old-fashioned and just screams “damp.” The toilet was pretty ugly and the sink reminded me of my schooldays. If there’s nothing there to adore, it’s time to rip it all out! You can create the space of your dreams with a blank canvas! And our imaginations were just getting started.

Can you believe how much space was hiding there? And it was all being wasted with that huge ugly washbasin. Bathroom suites have come a long way and there are so many options on size these days. Our first thought was we could easily fit a shower now. All we needed to do was if we reduce the size of the washbasin and position it in the center of the long wall. And we got our hands on the cutest little sink!! Are you ready to see how it all turned out?

After!

It’s modern! It’s contemporary! With our far less intrusive sink in place, there was space for a spacious rain shower at the end of the room. Classic marble tiles on the walls around the stall not only look fabulous but make it so much easier to wipe down. Keeping the colors light bounces brightness around the room, keeping the space light and clean. Chrome shower fittings match the sleek, square washbasin faucet, flawlessly completing the elegant, minimalist style.

Finally, we added a white, unobtrusive toilet and a big mirror above the sink. Positioning the mirror right opposite the door means it’s working overtime enlarging the space with all the light it’s bouncing around from the adjoining bedroom. A bright light above it really maximizes that illusion, and it’s super practical for our guests too! We’re loving the results of this stylish small space renovation!
