Must-See Before and After: Grotty bedroom to Fuchsia!

From stress to tranquility.

A bedroom is primarily a place to unwind, destress and relax. After a busy day, getting back to your room should be an absolute pleasure! So that’s exactly what we had in mind when we took on this bedroom renovation. Check out the before and after pictures of the stunning room that is Fuchsia.

A space begging to be brought to life! That hideous flooring was dragging the four walls in, making the space look way smaller than it is. The ceiling fan had potential for this particular bedroom renovation, but that was about all that caught our eye. We were itching to open the space up! Let in the light! Bring in the elegance! Splashed with an artistic flair, Fuchsia has become a fantastic home hideaway! Ripping out that floor and switching it for wood immediately made a HUGE difference! In terms of design, a wooden floor is sleek and clean. Durability is also a massive bonus if you’re looking to rent the space out! Plus, the colour of the wood works beautifully with the pastel palette we used for the walls and furnishings.

The Window

The window area is hugely important in a room with few other architectural features to focus on. Our eyes are immediately drawn to the light, so it’s up to us to ensure there is something gorgeous there to see! Elegance can immediately be draped in a room by hanging curtains and voiles that reach all the way to the floor, no matter where the window ends.

As we knew we would be renting this room out, we also wanted to provide a distinct workspace for our guests. The window area was perfect for this! Adding a marble-topped desk and matching black chair immediately added style and practicality to our gorgeous window space.

The Bed

It’s a bedroom, so the bed is the real reason anyone is here. Not only do the linens need to complement the room but they must also be unbelievably comfortable! Extra cushions are a great way to provide maximum comfort and “squish.” We also always position the bed so guests can walk all the way around the sides – no one wants to be climbed over in the middle of the night by a partner wanting to reach the bathroom!

The addition of a bed skirt screams luxury, as well as hiding any items stored in the space under the bed. The linens themselves are top quality cotton, in colours to compliment the pastel palette of the room while adding interest with their timeless design.

The Finishing Touches

The inspiration for this room was the blank canvas laid before us. So, it made total sense to bring art into the room design! The base colour of this piece of artwork fit our colour scheme perfectly while adding a burst of colour with electric blue and red. A metallic sculpture brings interest to what would have been an empty bedside table, and the easel does the same for the otherwise featureless corner.

The mirror above the bed is always a staple in our designs – it’s practical for guests AND bounces light around the room to open it up even further. The lamp in the workspace is of the same ilk – the sleek design is gorgeous and it’s useful too!
